Calcium Nutrition in Fig Orchards Enhance Fruit Quality at Harvest and Storage

Due to the high perishability of figs, calcium stands out as an important nutrient for orchard management. This study aims pre-harvest applications chloride in fig orchards. The trees were sprayed with 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0% CaCl2, fruits thereafter stored 7, 14 21 d. variables analysed concentration leaves fruits, weight loss, fruit decay, pectinolytic enzyme activity, physical chemical attributes fruits; CaCl2 sprays enhanced Ca2+ (14.03%) (29.3%) effective reducing polygalacturonase pectin methylesterase loss decay. Pre-treatment 1% provided larger diameters, greater firmness, higher levels total phenolic compounds both peel pulp. application at showed be a promising technique producing quality extended storage by approximately 7 10 days. These findings may useful planning new cultural practices orchards that produce high-quality desirable characteristics growers consumers.
